Nucleate Impact Reports
Nucleate is a global, student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering the next generation of biotech leaders by bridging the gap between academic research and industry entrepreneurship. Through open-access programs, hands-on training, mentorship, and a global network of chapters, we give early-career scientists and innovators the opportunity to build the skills, relationships, and experience needed to translate scientific discoveries into real-world impact.
Our Impact Report captures what that work looks like at scale. Drawing on data from our chapters, programs, alumni, public sources, and broader ecosystem, it examines not only how many founders, ventures, and leaders Nucleate has supported, but what happens as those individuals go on to build companies, raise capital, create jobs, strengthen regional biotech communities, and support the next generation. Together, these outcomes provide a data-driven view of how Nucleate’s student-led model is helping build a stronger, more connected life sciences ecosystem around the world.
IMPACT REPORT 2024-25
Led by our Research team, the 2024-2025 Impact Report spotlights a resilient pipeline of volunteer-led innovation, showcasing how young scientists are stepping up amidst sweeping NIH funding cuts and industry slowdowns. The report shares our latest program cycle’s accomplishments, detailing the incorporation of 183 new biotech companies addressing over 20 major health and climate challenges, from cancer and autoimmune diseases to biomanufacturing and synthetic biology. Featuring narrative team highlights and alumni perspectives, this release celebrates how early-stage academic talent continues to serve as a vital catalyst for the future bioeconomy.
IMPACT REPORT 2019-23
The 2019-2023 Impact Report chronicles our foundational growth and our first half-decade of student-led biotechnology innovation. Authored by our Impact team, this retrospective report shares the story of the Activator program’s early expansion, detailing our support of over 255 venture teams and the incorporation of 101 new companies. Celebrating the distribution of $3.7 million in pre-seed venture awards and $370 million in early alumni funding, the document highlights the initial milestones that successfully launched our next generation of bio-entrepreneurs.
